Garbage Collection Guidelines
- Garbage is collected every Tuesday unless otherwise announced.
- There is a maximum of five (5) garbage bags per household per week.
- Garbage must be placed in proper garbage bags.
- Grocery bags and other small shopping bags should not be used as garbage bags.
- No garbage bag may weigh more than 18.14 kg (40 lb).
- Garbage should be placed in a suitable container and put out the night before collection or early on collection morning.
- Residents are responsible for cleaning up garbage from bags left at the curb that become torn or opened.
Preparing Your Recycling
- Empty food and liquid from containers.
- Rinse containers where necessary.
- Keep recyclable material clean and dry.
- Place recyclable material in transparent recycling bags.
Bulk Items & Metals
Domestic and eligible bulk collection takes place as part of the Town's regular weekly collection. Some large or special items require separate arrangements.
For items such as hot water boilers, stoves, refrigerators and other large metal items, please contact the Town Office at 709-528-4588 for disposal or pickup information.
Grass, Leaves, Branches & Yard Material
Grass, leaves, branches and similar material are not accepted with regular curbside garbage.
Approved yard material may be taken to the Town's environmental collection site on Englishtown Road West. Only materials specifically permitted by the Town may be left at this site.
Construction & Renovation Waste
Building and renovation materials are the responsibility of the property owner and should not be placed with regular household garbage.
Residents may take eligible construction and demolition material to the Harbour Grace Waste Recovery Facility.

Location: Incinerator Road, Harbour Grace
Hours
- Tuesday: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Gates close 15 minutes before the facility closes.

- Propane tanks with valves removed

- Trees and branches meeting facility requirements
Illegal Dumping
Please help keep Brigus clean. Garbage and other waste should never be dumped along roads, in wooded areas or at unauthorized locations.
Illegal dumping can be reported to the Town Office at 709-528-4588.
